2Checkout does not permit selling Paypal, Clickbank related Items

I don’t know if any of you already know about this, but I recently read in one forum about 2Checkout won’t let a newly registered seller use its service solely because he sells Paypal and Clickbank related e-book.

Here’s the excerpt from the 2CO email taken from the forum :

Hello,

Sorry for the delay. 2CO does not support the service you wish
to provide. There is nothing illegal about it, it is just that 2CO
chooses not to support software that allows clients this type of
information on Paypalâ„¢ and Clickbankâ„¢. I do apologize for this
inconvenience. Please let me know if you wish to use the 2Co account for
something else or I can certainly close and refund the account?

Xxx2CO
Risk Dept.

Sounds like 2Checkout has its own anti-competition policy regarding items related to Paypal and Clickbank. It seems that the product status fell into “2CO’s sole discretion”, as it is not included in the “official” list ofProhibited Products in 2CO site.

btw, the seller did get his money back from 2CO because of that. So you can forget about using 2Checkout service if you’re planning to sell its competitor related items.

New style of spam comments using Social bookmarking as bait

I’ve encountered a new breed of spam comments that uses social bookmarking service as bait.

Example of comments :

E-mail : [email protected]
URI : http://www.spurl.net/discover/user/username/
Comment:
Good site I found … Plan on coming back later.

  • ——————————–

The social bookmarking url are pointed to the spammers personal collection of website. It seems that the comment spammers has changed their tactics again, beware.

Get updates for website that does not publish RSS feed

I’m frustrated at some websites (particularly news website) that do not publish RSS feed, because this makes my life harder when I have to surf their website almost everyday for latest updates.

feed96.png

It is a time consuming work, especially when they do not update their website regularly as anticipated, and when they do update, you are usually the last person to know about the updates.

Page2RSS and Feedity might provide the answer for those who shared my feelings about those websites. These service generates RSS feeds for websites that do not publish RSS feeds.

With these service, all you need to do is subscribe the RSS feed provided by both service, and wait for updates. It will make your life easier by performing the checkup on your behalf, and inform you if there’s any updates on your RSS feed.

I’ve tried both services, although by far it is not perfect, It does save my time from having to surf my favorite websites for updates.

Akismet, Spam Karma 2, Captcha, etc which works best for you?

Currently I use Spam Karma 2 from Dr Dave, and it works well for me, but I’m still curious about your experience in using other anti-spam solution for your blog.

For starters, I’ve tried Akismet before, and for some reason it did not work well for me. I dont know why, but I keep getting a lot of comment under my moderation list, and that isn’t practical to me at all, because I’ve to check a lot of comments in the moderation list (up to 1000++ in once case).

I’ve also came across blog which uses Captcha to deter comments spammers or even take drastic measure to their blog comments functionality all together.

Whatever your actions are, I would like to hear it from you about what kind of actions you’ve taken to reduce the annoying comment spams.

List of TMNet Streamyx Broadband DNS

Always experience the dreadful downtime of Streamyx default DNS? Here is the list of TMNet Streamyx Backup DNS server. It might be useful if the usual DNS server ‘mysteriously’ stopped working :

202.188.0.147
202.188.0.161
202.188.0.181
202.188.0.182
202.188.1.4

202.188.1.23
202.188.1.25

Remember, copy and put it in a safe place in case if you need it afterwards, it might be handy.

p/s: DNS or domain names system is a system that responsible in translating domain name (like google.com and tipvista.com) to IP address of the corresponding computer server like (72.232.16.43 or 69.76.54.121).

Without DNS, we won’t be able to surf the internet without memorizing those IP address and surfing the internet will be much more difficult than we used too.

Backup WordPress automatically with WP-Cron and WP-DB-Backup

A short post, but today I would like to share you two WordPress plugins that could save your blog’s (and possibly your) life.

WP-Cron and WP-DB-Backup helps you to backup your WordPress files periodically to your email. You probably already have WP-DB-Backup If you’re using WordPress 2.x, I hope that you would have already utilised this plugin as it can be handy to backup your WordPress installations.

WP-Cron takes the backup process further by automating WP-DB-Backup job to send daily wordpress backup to your emails. Although this seems redundant most of the time, rest assured it will be worth it when your Web Hosting fs*ck on you.

For this to work, I suggest that you send your wordpress backup to a gmail account since gmail account is able to store gigabytes of data, so your wordpress backup will be save there should you need it.

You can download WP-DB-Backup and WP-Cron from http://www.skippy.net/blog/plugins/
