Google Checkout is out!

The latest product from Google, Google Checkout (informally referred as GBuy) is out! Google Checkout aims to simplify online shopping experience by eliminating the need of memorising countless login details for online payment gateway.

Availability

Google Checkout seems to have quite a number participating business judging from their ‘sample’ list at the Checkout website. Registration is free and and the business account is charged 2.0% + USD0.20 fee per transaction, much lower than Paypal

Google Checkout incentive

Google also offers a very attractive incentive to sellers that use Adwords service, if you’re an AdWords advertiser, you can earn free transaction processing through Google Checkout.

For every $1 you spend on AdWords each month, you can process $10 in sales the following month through Google Checkout for free. For example, if your AdWords spend in August is $300, you can process up to $3000 in sales for free through Google Checkout in September.

Types of Account

Google Checkout buyer account is available to all users around the world, where you can register at the Checkout website, all you need to do is just key in your Debit/Credit Card details in the account, and you’ll be ready to shop online with Google Checkout.
The Google Checkout seller account however is limited to US users only.Google has yet to announce the availability of Google Checkout sellers account to other countries.
It’s still remain to be seen how Google Checkout could impact the landscape of e-commerce around the world.

My Thoughts

Having Google Checkout holding all your credit card info is nice, however one question arises since Google Checkout uses the same Google account id as other Google service that you use (i.e GMail, Google-talk Analytics, Froogle, Base, Sitemaps,…), I hate to see the consequences if (in theory) somebody manage to get hold on your Google password and start spending on the internet at your expense.

Google dance affecting LiewCF and various other websites

I have noticed a trend in Google search engine where my keyword searches produced completely different in the past two weeks. I read a few weblog complaints about their blog is nolonger ranked top for their chosen keywords, and this including LiewCF’s blog which affects his internet revenue by 75%.

I think the major Google dance is back again, so be advised folks.

Sending file/sharing files with others on the net? Here’s a free solution for you. Below is the list of free filesharing/file uploading service available that I managed to gather from the internet.

Some are better than others, but your requirements may vary. So better check out each of these services to see whether it suits your need or not.

My personal choice is yousendit.com, savefile.com and rapidshare.com. I’ll write about my reasons later.

Turn your feed as web ticker

For some who might still wondering what RSS feed can be use for, then wonder no more. I’m not going to lecture you about the usefulness of RSS/Atom feed to you as I believe there’s alot of other websites that can explain better than me.

What I’m going to tell you is a website that can allow you to turn any RSS feed as ticker. Yes, that’s right the thing that scroll on your screen.

Basically what you need to do is

Add your RSS Feed
Choose Horizontal/Vertical Ticker
CUstomise ticker color to blend with your website
Generate Code (asp/php/html)
Paste it to your website

How to Make Media Player Screenshot

Ever wonder how to take screenshots of your favorite movies using Media Player? I bet some of you have tried it and what you got is just a another blue-screen when your pasted it on a graphic editor program.

The trick is to change few settings in your Windows Media Player before you press the Print Screen key. First, you should go to Tools menu, then Options, click on Performance tab, click Advance, uncheck “use Overlays”, then click OK.

You should be able to take screenshot of your favorite movie from media player after that, but don’t forget to check “use Overlays” back after you’ve finish with the screenshot, or your movie might slow to a crawl.

AlertPay is yet another online payment processor from a Canadian company. Dub as a PayPal alternative, AlertPay offers funding it’s account from EFT,Check, Money Order, E-Gold and Credit Cards.

AlertPay funds can be withdrawn to your bank account using either Bank Wire, Bank Transfer and Check or to your e-gold account.

Like Paypal, AlertPay lets you sell online using the popular “Buy Now” button, but unlike Paypal, AlertPay let you sell Adult related product using their service, something that most Payment Processor won’t do for you.

However the fee and charges for selling Adult related stuff is higher than other product on the internet.
